European Workshop on Market Designfavicon

Mindset & History

The European Workshop on Market Design (EWMD) started in 2019, as KIT-Paris-ZEW Workshop on Market Design, organized by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Panthéon-Assas University (Paris 2) and Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW). After a break due to the pandemic, the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris-Saclay (ENS Paris-Saclay) joined the organisation in 2022, followed by the University of Cologne in 2023. The EWMD was initiated by O. Bos, N. Fugger, V. Gretschko and N. Szech, who also organize the Virtual Market Design Seminar, started in 2020 (with H. Mass, M. Ott and M. Pollrich).

The workshop takes place over two days, and aims to bring together researchers from academia and industry practitioners working on problems that frequently arise when designing markets. That covers all related fields beyond economics, including Computer Science, Operation Managment and Behavioral Sciences.

EWMD 2023 will be hosted by the ZEW in Mannheim, on 5-6 June 2023. The program will be available by the end of May.
